Top tips for making your garden glow this Spring

It’s inevitable that our gardens can get a little neglected when the wintry weather means outdoor spaces are less than inviting. But as Spring begins to break through the chill no doubt you’ll be thinking of ways to spruce up your outdoor environment. Here are our top tips for getting ship shape this spring time so you can give your garden chance to glow as well as grow.

Freshen up the fixtures and fittings

If you’ve got decking that leaves something to be desired or garden walls with more than the odd spot of moss then giving everything a really good scrub and lick of paint will do wonders for the overall appearance of your outdoor space. Patchy, damp decking is never going to make for an excellent al fresco dining experience and if your garden walls or fences have chipped or faded paintwork now is the time to freshen them up.

Get stylish with your seating

It’s time to ditch those decades old deckchairs or the white plastic patio sets that always seem to break just before summer arrives. Investing in a proper seating set really does make a difference when it comes to making a stylish garden statement. If you’re looking for relaxation then choosing something like the Fullerton Recliner set currently on offer as part of our Spring Event for just £699 means you and your partner can put your feet up whilst popping open a bottle of something chilled and refreshing. Or if you like the idea of hanging about in style then look no further than the Oakridge Hanging Double Cocoon.*

Light up your life

Lighting can be just as important outdoors as it is inside if your looking to make maximum use of your space. Whether your investing just a little with a few fairy lights sprinkled about for an ethereal ambience or feel like going the whole hog with a fire pit and Jean Michel Jarre style light show, giving some thought to creating warmth with outside feature lighting really makes a difference.

Cushions offer an extra splash of colour. We love this 'In Abstract Peacock' cushion £45 from the Lounge Co.  & the Fiesta Cactus, Mi Casa & Bird of Paradise hand embroidered range by Jan Constanine - from £83 in store.

Get weed free and freshen up your flowers

Spring is all about clearing back those nooks and crannies which have been neglected and that means getting on with some unavoidable manual labour (just think of it as an alternative to the gym with a more rewarding end result). We all hate weeding but get down the garden centre beforehand and have some fresh flowers to plant out at the ready once you’re done. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a spring injection of colour once you’ve put in some hard graft.

This large rope design vase £62 offers a cool minimal outdoor table centerpiece contrast next to the Antique Metal Moroccan inspired hanging lantern - £99 for a set of 2. This impressive Rajasthani Votive wall ornament* in bright painted  metal is currently on offer at £625 in store. It's a striking piece which offers the opportunity to hold dozens of tea light candles to brighten up  outdoor evening entertaining.

Add a few outdoor accessories

Whether that’s a few statement cushions in contrasting prints or an outdoor decorative item that’s sure to catch the eye we’ve got lots of options here at Ponsford. We've included the pick of some of our favourite outdoor accessories above which are on display at the moment in store.  Eastern accents and colorful cushions with abstract animal and plant motifs are a great way to help you get that spring into summer look that truly glows with style.

*Please note the The Oakridge Hanging Double Cocoon only comes with the fawn colour cushions in picture. We would recommend that the Rajasthani Votive wall ornament is only used outdoors during the spring and summer and protected from inclement weather.
