Find something you'll love this New Year

New Year, new trends! It’s back to business after the Christmas holidays and we couldn’t be more excited about all the new furniture and furnishings arriving on the shop floor.

We loved having time off with our families and friends, enjoying all the food and fun that the festive season offers but when January kicks in, it feels like we all need a refresh – something new, to look forward to – and all our new arrivals, combined with some firm favourites has got us rather excited with what’s to come.

So with this in mind we couldn’t wait to share with you what the world of interior design has prepared to start this new decade. For a few weeks, we’ve been browsing and compiling all the new trends everybody’s talking about and so here it is; the three main trends you might just fall in love with this New Year.

Traditional design with a twist

A new term that’s been frequently repeated is the ‘Grandmillenial Style’. This will refer to the combination of a more traditional layout that blends perfectly with elements of classic design like chinoiserie, woven textured rugs, natural plants, scalloped furniture etc. Mixing and matching old elements of our homes, locally made art pieces and travelling memorabilia takes centre stage telling the story of who we are.

Brands like Collins & Hayes bring us fabulous sofas featuring an inviting and casual yet refined contemporary look like the Miller Medium Sofa – matching perfectly with this new trend. They design and make the finest, most luxurious furniture in state-of-the-art workshops in rural Nottinghamshire, carefully handcrafted by skilled tailors, using only the finest materials to ensure they continue to design beautiful pieces that offer sublime comfort.

If you’re looking for a more classically sumptuous punch, you need to take a look at one of our latest arrivals in store, the new Duresta Harvard. The whole collection effortlessly combines classic British style with a glamorous touch. With subtle fringe trim detailing adding a touch of grandeur, and deep, luxurious seats and plump arm pads to provide maximum comfort, this range will bring timeless opulence to any classic interior. Combine this with your latest finds at the local antiques shop and join the ‘in’ team!

One of our forever favourites in store to make a real statement in your dining area is the Emperor Dining Table. With very appealing rustic vibes, this table has been crafted to the highest quality. Combining a solid oak wood frame, engineered oak parquet panels to prevent movement and a protective lacquer that will highlight the woods natural grain pattern. This table will perfectly complement natural accessories and soft, vintage-looking rugs.

Ercol is always a classic option, specially the Windsor dining range. Including true designed classics by its founder Lucian Ercolani, this range has been crafted by traditional methods and modern machining to achieve sturdy dovetail joints and Ercol’s iconic oval handles. Since its creation, the Windsor collection has evolved to match today's living and includes timeless designs that still suit both modern and traditional homes.

Bold Monochromatics

We personally LOVE this trend. It doesn’t matter if you prefer a bold pattern or a strong colour block; the idea is to give a room a unique character and create a high contrast for the ultimate visual punch. This will bring an artistic element to the room, taking the colour or pattern of your choice centre stage.

The black & white high contrast look seems to be one of the favourite choices if you prefer a more modern approach. Combining this with the clear and intelligent design concept of the Gwinner Bellano Collection, minimalist accessories and a natural fibre rug, the result would create a spectacular look. The Bellano range of TV units, media and storage furniture solutions, integrates the latest media technology and allows you to customise your units to fit your lifestyle – the perfect solution if you want to keep on the latest trends without compromising on practicality.

Take a look at the colour block that Rug Artisan recreated on the picture down below – absolutely mind-blowing! The cool tones are now on a more secondary level and shades of chocolate, yellow ochre, earthy oranges, teals and burgundies are all making appearances in people’s homes.

Accent walls are no longer in trend so, it’s time to get wild and paint the whole room with a bold colour. Accessories, furnishings and rugs are equally important to complete the look and we have the perfect solution for you.

We’re proudly partnering with Rug Artisan to help you create custom handmade rugs exclusively designed to your desired size and colour specification. Choose a rug design that suits your taste from their eclectic design library and select a shape that will be right for your living space. Then decide on the rug type you would like. Rug Artisan gives you the option to choose between different types of wool or silk or try out a combination of wool and silk for a more creative look.

The Coco Padded Lounge Chair from Calligaris is elegant and modern. When combined with striking orange walls, terracotta accessories and a touch of real greenery it’s a recipe for perfection. Featuring a tubular-metal frame and padded seat cushion and backrest with fixed upholstery, this lounge chair could transform any corner.

Golds, teals and Alexander & James, are definitely a win. The Florence Accent Chair combined with dark walls and golden accessories give us Great Gatsby vibes. With an elegant design and neat pleated arms and hand-tufted buttons, this stylish chair is the personification of what chic means. Mixing classic shapes with bold fabrics and unique decorative pieces – you have a full house.

European-inspired

Furniture with European-inspired detailing is definitely trending. We can see how the pieces tend to recreate rounded edges with metal legs typically seen on German and Italian influences. And that’s great news because, here at Ponsford, we display a wide selection of European brands with different styles to suit all tastes.

Lights, camera, Fama! This Spanish brand hits us with the ultimate contemporary and stylish chairs and sofas with the most wonderful fabric combinations. A great example is the beautiful Fama Swing Chair. With a curved design and a swivel base, this chair fuses a modern punch with a fun yet tasteful fabric waiting to become the focal point of any living area. Don’t hold back and bring a little piece of the Spanish culture to your home for the New Year.

Natuzzi is synonymous with luxury. Their Ido Coffee Tables stand on slender metal legs which give the frame a fluctuating look, easy to match with various styles of sofas and armchairs. Ideal as a support surface, these coffee tables are an aesthetically superior solution that will complement all your furniture choices. Fill them with beautifully shaped accessories and a statement lamp and conquer that tricky corner of your living room.

Simplicity, rounded edges and soft fabrics define perfectly a brand like Sits. Originally from Sweden and with twenty six years of experience, they completely concentrate on the customer experience and comfort is key. The Stefani Armchair clearly reflects the Scandinavian style – with silhouettes that exude Hygge, a trend that dominated interior design for the last couple of years.

German influences are coming strong in terms of bedroom furniture. In our Classic Building we offer you a wide display of bedroom options like the Sonate Bed Systems from Staud. The range has high-quality furnishing components: sliding-door wardrobes in a variety of dimensions and finishes, comfortable beds with different headboards and frame heights, as well as the extensive premium collection.
