KEEPING YOU WARM THIS WINTER #1: Invest in Tog Rated Underlay ... and a dazzling new rug
Your underlay — the layer of material laid between the subfloor and your carpet — plays a bigger role in keeping your house warm than you might realise. A barrier to drafts and heat loss, tog-rated underlay is measured by the thermal resistance it offers: the higher the tog, the better the underlay is for warmth. However, don't be tricked into thinking that a thicker underlay is an indicator of thermal resistance: a thick underlay without a tog rating is not guaranteed to provide insulation against heat loss.
